The HZG is a member of the largest German science organization, the Helmholtz-Society of German Research Centres. We work collaboratively with our eighteen partners, located across Germany, to provide solutions to social, economic and scientific challenges. We also closely cooperate in networks involving numerous national and international scientific organizations.
Our main areas of focus lie in material and coastal research. For example, we develop and study light and functional materials for automotive and aerospace applications, grapple with questions about the conditions and changes in the coastal regions and investigate the potential of biomaterials for regenerative therapies, such as biodegradable implants.

Fifty-Seven Nations at the Helmholtz-Zentrum
The Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, with its locations in both Geesthacht and Teltow, currently employs around 950 people from fifty-seven countries and thus offers an international working environment. We seek qualified scientists, but we also look for individuals with experience in technology and administration. Furthermore, we provide attractive opportunities for doctoral candidates and university graduate students to complete their theses or dissertations at the Helmholtz-Zentrum, or to undertake internships during their studies. We also offer apprenticeships in various fields and we are therefore an ideal establishment for an array of vocational education.Click here to view employment opportunities Click here to access the apprenticeships pages Click here to view opportunities for doctoral candidates, graduate students and pupils
